This lantern, with its swivel base and snap-lock panel inside the battery compartment to hold the battery in place, is far superior to the best known competing brand. I went through three of those worthless lanterns, which would always short out for no reason, in three months. This product is sturdier and more reliable, and I still have the first one from six years ago.
