National and Regional Winners Recognized for Role in Advancing Hearing Health

Middleton, WI - December 18, 2012

Six of the nations top hearing professionals were honored today by Rayovac® for their dedication to excellence in the hearing health industry. These professionals have made a positive difference in the lives of their patients and Rayovac wishes to recognize them for all of their hard work.

Angela Lederman of Rochester Hills, MI was named the 2012 National Hearing Professional of the Year by Rayovac. Lederman, a well-respected hearing professional, was one of the six regional finalists. Other regional winners include:

  • Connie Duncan, Blairsville, GA
  • Elizabeth Welch, Franklin TN
  • Arthur Rosner, Rochester Hills, MI
  • Ron Leavitt, Corvallis, OR
  • Melissa Kreze, Las Cruces, NM

The Hearing Professional of the Year award honors and recognizes hearing professionals for their exceptional service and commitment to the profession. To receive this award, hearing care professionals are nominated by their patients for superior care. To supplement a nomination, patients have written letters of recommendation describing the outstanding care that they received from their hearing care professionals. Each regional winner received impressive patient nominations, which made it a tough decision to crown an overall winner.

“The six finalists of the Hearing Professional of the Year Award have clearly demonstrated their unwavering dedication to the advancement of hearing health,” said Ann Rule, Director of Marketing, Hearing Aid Batteries. “Being nominated for such a prestigious award showcases the tremendous respect they receive from patients and the entire hearing care community. The patient stories are very heartfelt and reinforce the importance of recognizing these professionals for the dedicated work that they do.”

Rayovac will be donating $500 in the name of each regional winner to the charity of their choice. As the national winner, Angela Lederman will be receiving $1,500 to be donated in her name. The benefitting charities include the University of MI C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital, Disabled American Veterans and Starkey Hearing Foundation. Four of the six winners donated their winnings to the Starkey Hearing Foundation.

“On behalf of Starkey Hearing Foundation, I would like to congratulate the winners of Rayovac's Hearing Professional of the Year contest and thank them for their generous support,” said Bill Austin, founder, Starkey Hearing Foundation. “I would also like to thank Rayovac for their on-going support. Their battery donations power the more than 100,000 hearing aids we provide each year to people in need, connecting thousands of families and communities in the U.S. and around the world through the gift of hearing.”
