No Plug! No Problem!

Imagine an electrical cord that reached from Earth all the way to the moon! If it weren't for batteries, that’s what astronauts would need to keep the space shuttle running. The stored electricity in batteries allows astronauts to take electric energy with them wherever they go…even to outer space!

What else uses batteries as a power source?

  • Mark the items that use batteries with a “B”.
  • Mark the items that need to be plugged into an electrical outlet with an “E”.
  • If the item can use either a battery or an electrical outlet, mark it with a “BE”.
